There seems to be a growing trend of merging lingerie with swimwear. Plenty of thong bikinis, convertible tops and boy short styles abound on the beachwear scene now so it’s not too surprising that lace is making its appearance as well. Some celebs have been spotted at the beach in these lacy pieces and sometimes these bikinis cause a double-take. If you didn’t know better, you’d think someone was just walking around in a lacy bra and underwear, and I suppose therein lies the sex appeal.

Though I don’t think I’d ever wear one because that’s not my style, I think ruffle bikinis, if designed properly, can be cool to wear. Last year, Herve Leger started adding swimwear to their collection and since then, celebs like Beyonce and Lindsay Lohan have been snapped wearing those now famous designer bandages. For those who don’t know, Herve Leger is the high end line within the BCBG Max Azria Group. The iconic bandage dresses are seen pretty much every year at red carpet events on celebrities like Halle Berry, Victoria Beckham, Mischa Barton, Blake Lively, Rihanna and Lucy Liu. And now the bandages have transitioned to swimwear and the styles are…..well, unique to say the least. Now, not all the designs are this dramatic and asymmetrical but for those independent, quirky types, this might be a cool suit to rock at your next beach party.
