This double-sided string bikini has two colors and is made of a suede-like material. The synthetic fabric mimics the supple soft smoothness of real suede leather but has the functionality of being able to be used for a bikini. Suits made of this material are going to be harder to find but if you do get your hands on them, the softness is going to be hard to resist.

I think the lace up detail on the bottoms is super cute and could be a style that proves to be very popular. It’s definitely something that I would wear because while I like the string bikini, I’m always wary of the ties coming undone. Even if I double knot them, I’m still kind of paranoid. But with a lace up style, the chances of your bottoms unraveling are definitely minimized but you still get the look of the string tie. Plus I think the extra bit of skin that’s exposed under the lace up bit is very flirty. I’d definitely give this look a go.
Yay for new styles! The v-wire bandeau is one of the new styles that’s arrived in the world of swimwear and this new take on the regular bandeau seems to be becoming pretty popular. This top is designed with a v-shaped underwire in the center that helps to lift and separate. The hidden hardware certainly looks like its helping the top avoid the sagging shape that usually comes with a bandeau top of this style. Of course, the only way to know for certain is to try one on for yourself and come to your own conclusion!

Ruffled bikinis aren’t just for kids anymore! Check out AnnaLynne McCord in this cute pink ruffled bikini. This string bikini features layers of ruffles that actually look good, much to my surprise. Though I don’t think I’d ever wear one because that’s not my style, I think ruffle bikinis, if designed properly, can be cool to wear. Done right, you won’t look childish or dowdy while frolicking in the surf. Try one on and see for yourself and get a second opinion if you’re not sure!
I’ve been looking for something new and colorful so when I saw this bandeau bikini I thought it was too perfect! I love that the bandeau has the optional halter strap because usually with this style I hate having to keep tugging at it to make sure it stays up. I love the stripe design on it too – how cute is the twisting effect?! Kind of reminds me of an infinity symbol. I like the string bikini bottoms too – they add a just a bit of flirty flair to the suit. It’s definitely a very girly bikini and not a look I’d want to rock to every beach excursion but every once in a while I think it’s a fun option to have.
Asymmetrical designs have been common all over the fashion scene: asymmetrical hems, single shoulder tops, asymmetrical buttons, slanted zippers, etc. Really, it’s a design style that’s become pretty popular. When it comes to swimwear though, this design trend is kind of hard to do, and apart from the one shoulder bandeau, it’s never really been done. Until now. The tops may remain symmetrical, but the bottoms have a whole new look. It’s as if the designer couldn’t decide whether to make a regular bikini bottom or a string bikini and said “To hell with it – I’ll do both!” Because really, that’s what it looks like. And while I give kudos for creativity, the unbalanced look of this design kind of has me tilting my head saying “huh”. I do applaud the colors though – they’re beautiful.
The popularity of metallic fashions has always been in waves. Like the ebb and flow of the ocean, this trend often comes and goes; it never really had staying power. Everyone few seasons we see metallic shoes, bags, dresses and even shiny metallic pants, but after the oohing and aahing dies down everyone goes back to wearing what they were wearing before all the hoopla began. When it comes to swimwear, however, it seems that these shiny fabrics are attracting a huge following and finding warm welcome than their landlocked counterparts. More and more designers are putting out metallic bikinis and more and more women are snatching them up. Perhaps we’re bored of the basic bikini or perhaps on the few opportunities we do get to head to the beach, we want to be in something that will make a memorable statement. Or maybe we all secretly want to be Princess Leia in a gold bikini, but regardless, it seems like this trend could be one to stay.
I wore my fair share of polka dots when I was little. Polka dot skirt, polka dot sneakers, polka dot backpack, even a polka dot headband (I was 8, don’t judge). Now that I’m no longer a wee one I wonder about these fun little dots. Where have they gone? Are they no longer allowed to be worn over a certain age? I can’t remember the last time I saw anything polka dotted in the stores, so I had to smile when I came across this multi-colored multi-dotted bikini. Certainly there are occasions where one must dress appropriately (think job interview or church) but when it comes to swimwear, I believe that you should wear something fun. After all, you’re out at the beach to have fun and frolic right? So the same rule applies.
