Halter Bandeau Bikini

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Every woman’s bikini assortment should include some variety and that doesn’t have to mean in just colors. There are some unique bikini top and bottom styles now being designed that help you to stand out in the crowd. If you’re tired to wearing triangle and halter tops, there’s the halter bandeau to consider. While the bandeau is usually a strapless style, this alternative adds a halter strap to allow for support in the top. I like that the centers of these tops allow for some creative detail like a keyhole or other delicate design.

Wrapped Halter Top Bikini

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Halter tops have always been a popular choice for women, but if you’re getting tired of the style, the top has taken a new twist. Halters are new being designed with extended back ties to allow the wearer to wrap the straps around the torso before tying at the back. The design details may differ from designer to designer but the look is an added wrapped strap just under your bust line to add a little something extra to the look of your suit.

Beaded Bikini

Monday, November 8th, 2010

It may be hard to tell from the photo, but this halter top bikini is decorated with beading. Little decorative accents like shimmering beads can add subtle touches of glimmer to your suit. It’s not as evident as say, metallic fabric or sequins. This type of embellishment proves that a little can go a long way. So the next time you’re hunting for a bikini, maybe get one that’s a little more noticeable in the crowd.

Plaid Bikini

Monday, July 12th, 2010

If you’re mad for preppy plaid, be happy that they’re available in swimwear form as well.  I never really understood the craze for crazy crisscrossing colors but to each his own.  I think if it’s done in a sensible way that it’s fine.  But if it’s an over-the-top, Paul-Bunyan-esque way, not so much.  It would be overkill, much the way a giant flashing neon sign is.  So when it comes to plaid, stick to normal crosshatching and a small mix of colors, anything beyond that will make people cover their eyes.

Pleated Retro Bikini

Monday, July 5th, 2010

At first glance, this ultra feminine bikini could pass for lingerie.  With the sensual looking fabric and the flirty frills anyone seen out at the beach in this would be getting plenty of double takes.  The halter top features many micro pleats that help to add dimension and enhance smaller chests.  The ruffles and pleats on the bottom are retro, sexy and flirtatious at the same time.  The added crystal and metal details add just the right amount of shine to the bikini as well.  The overall affect is seductive like lingerie but still stylish for the beach.

Ombre Bikini

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

The ombre style, fading from light to dark, has been around for a while but as trends go it’s one of those on-again, off-again trends.  This summer it seems like it’s back for more as designers and putting out more of these gradient looks.  Ombre doesn’t have to be monotone like this coral halter bikini here.  I’ve seen some suits that start with yellow, then blend to green, then blend to blue, and another one went from purple to pink to white.  It’s a great option for people who don’t like bold graphic prints but like color. The blending with the ombre style kind of smoothes things over for a less jarring, more subtle look.

Bottle Opener Bikini

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Have you ever gone to the beach with a bunch of friends, brought a cooler of beers and once you got settled into the sand you suddenly realized that you forgot to bring a bottle opener??  Well if you have, then you can rest easy knowing that there’s a bikini out there that does double duty as both swimwear and beverage opener.  This new bikini style has a built in bottle cap opener at the center of the halter top.  It might be kind of tricky to use since there’s no seemingly comfortable way to grip it, but if you forgot to bring a proper one then I wouldn’t be complaining.  It seems like bottle cap openers are being built into all kinds of clothing.  I’ve seen them on the bottoms of flip flops, belt buckles and now they’ve transitioned into the world of bikinis.  I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Halter Top Bikini

For women with larger assets, the halter top provides the coverage and support you seek.  With a lot more fabric that the classic triangle top styles, the halter if a much more comfortable option to wear while you’re out frolicking in the sands.  Some halter styles have adjustable cups while others do not – it depends on your preference.  I personally love halter tops.  I like to play around in the sand and surf, and wearing a halter bikini lets me do that without have to worry about any mishaps.  It’s like the sports bra of bikinis.

The White Bikini

Monday, April 26th, 2010

What do Raquel Welch and Ursula Andress have in common?  Aside from being the red hot sex symbols of their time, they are both well known for their practically iconic white bikinis.  There’s something about these curvaceous and tan beauties in a classic white bikini that stood out and out lasted any other style of the time.  Over the years, the white bikini has proven to be a classic and is still a style that lasts to this day.  Nowadays it may be a halter top, maybe it’s crocheted, perhaps there’s a little decorative accent somewhere.   Although little details change here and there, there’s no mistaking the white bikini.  It’s undoubtedly a trend that’s here to stay.

Bikini or lingerie?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We all know what lingerie looks like, and we all know what bikinis look like, but is the line defining the two starting to blur?  At first glance this mauve masterpiece looks like lacy lingerie but slowly a question mark starts to form overhead and you realize it is, in fact, a bikini!  I love the details, the color, the ties but I wonder if it’s the type of bikini that you’d actually want to wear in the water.  As beautiful as it is, I’d likely not want to ruin it by swimming around in salt water or chorine.  What about you? Would you splash around in this two-piece wonder or just model it while tanning in the sun?
